Shit and Shine invents its own hybrid of aggressive and lush —teasing krautrock's propulsive and repetitive drive, but soaked with deconstructed, distorted pop and broken disco samples, glitches and stuttering vocals smoothed by phasing synths into an almost psychedelic tempest.
Formed in 2004 by Craig Clouse to push beyond the already deviant noise rock boundaries of his grinding guitar-riff band Todd, Shit and Shine crumples and reshapes rock tropes with electronic prescriptions, from corrupted samples and uncanny effects to relentless beats. Clouse draws in players with an ear for the disruptive, including King Coffey, former drummer for Butthole Surfers, and Nate Cross, head of avant-jazz and experimental label Astral Spirits (the three musicians newly hatched project USA/MEXICO, turns bass, drums, guitar and altered vocals into thundering noise-metal.) Shit and Shine's 11th release, Total $hit on Powell's Diagonal records, reshaped the project's dissonant reflexes into an atmospheric dubscape destroyed in a heavy fever pitch. The latest issue for the unpredictable label Editions Mego, ups the irreverence ante while still delivery a full brain and body mosh.
Shit and Shine as a duo stages an unpredictable storm of a noise opera with a wall of mangled sonics and live drumming.

The Factory Smokers Street Revue [SWE]

Blues

The Factory Smokers Street Revue was born from a cigar box with that same name. The group’s singer/guitarist, Mårten Tiljander, built both a guitar and a band from a 17-inch long cigar box.


The following building block was the bass player Per Lefvert, a brother in arms from the old days of punk who, these days, heads up the double bass. The third member in the making was Robert Sundberg on drums. The bands musical influence stems from areas within the Northern Mountains to the delta of Mississippi, onto the New Orleans, via Memphis and further onto Chicago’s filthiest back alleys. There is however an equally important ingredient to the bands sound, this comes from the early American and British punk scene. The band debuted with the digital EP ‘Smokers style’ and followed with ‘Greatest hits vol1 LP and Mostly uphill EP on cassette (2018).

The band has a reputation to deliver high-octane performances, and that they do it regardless of the size of the audience in the venue.

Having attended the same secret lodge - the Omnipotent Order of Eccentric Rapscallions (OOER) - together for 25-odd years, our three heroes were united in their cause when they were elected to search the UK for a sacrificial virgin to be deflowered at the sacred Dodecacentenial Orgy (or 'DO' for short).

A 16-year search - during which Micky was mistakenly assumed to be missing, presumed unable to take the pace - yielded nothing. In short, they had no joy, neither on their home turf nor during a brief sojourn to western Europe. (Hence their anticipated presence in the Promised Land).

To lure their prey they hit on the ingenious plan of disguising themselves as a musical 'rock-group' (presently very popular among young folk we are led to believe).
Therefore, we urge all parents, siblings, friends, acquaintances and cohorts of any known (or not) unblemished no-tails, (irrespective of age, race, creed, cooking-ability etc.) to attend the soon to be announced Masonic gatherings, accompanied by same.
Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

 

Ludella Black was an original member of legendary Medway garage band The Del-Monas, after that she became a Headcoatee along with her friends Holly Golightly, Kyra Rubella and ‘Bongo’ Debbie.
Since the demise of Thee Headcoatees in 1999 she has released three solo albums (two on Damaged Goods 2000’s ‘She’s Out There’) and plays live with The Masonics regularly and appeared on loads of singles and albums with them too.

As fate would have it, 2013 had a magnetic pull that would bring Australian singer and guitarist Rhys and female German drummer Meike from opposite ends of the earth together through a strong musical bond.


Drawing inspiration from bands such as Helmet, Rage Against The Machine, NIN, Primus, QOTSA, Faith no More to name a few, the Power Duo have earned themselves a reputation for putting on relentlessly energetic, sweaty and well crafted Wall of Rock performances. Quiet often their structured songs will trickle into soundscapes and off the cuff transitions with a full sonic assault and attitude to burn - this two piece has the presence and sound of a five man band (Rock Hard Magazine).


Rhys’ thick vocal melodies and downtuned style of playing guitar through three different amplifiers along with his self made custom double output guitars holds all bass and guitar duties down whilst Meike’s ability to create powerful drum rhythms that lock in tight with the biggest of riffs, creating a distinctive wall of sound which cannot be mistaken for any other band.

Successfully pursuing the DIY approach, the two have stamped their brand of two piece power rock to their ever growing fan base, have recently been on tour with Monster Magnet, Ugly Kid Joe and have shared stages with Soulfly, Dog Eat Dog, Melvins, Clutch, Fu Manchu.
